Major federal tax credits are available for the installation of residential and commercial solar thermal installations for domestic hot water. Accelera® 300 heat pump water heaters installed between January 1 and December 31, 2011 qualify for a federal Energy Star tax credit of $300. New construction and rental properties do not qualify.
