Heating Information & Options

Where are You Looking to Warm Up?

Do you need to warm up just that one cold bathroom, hallway, or bedroom? Do you need to heat a large living room? Are you looking to replace cumbersome electric baseboard heaters? Or are you looking to heat your whole house while being energy-efficient at the same time? Whatever type of space you're looking to make cozy, Stiebel Eltron has options.

Ways to Heat

CK Wall-Mounted Space Heater Installation

There are two main ways to heat a space using Stiebel Eltron products. The first option is to use one of our wall-mounted space heaters like the CK Premium, CK Plus, CK Trend, CK/CKT, CON Premium, or CNS-E. Single units are ideal for heating smaller spaces like bathrooms, bedrooms, and hallways. Multiple units can be placed in larger rooms and optionally be linked to a central thermostat.

Radiant Floor Heating System powered by Stiebel Eltron solar collectors

The second option, called radiant floor heating, is an efficient and effective way to heat your home. A radiant floor heating system uses flexible tubing that is run back and forth underneath the floor of a house. This design means floors themselves are warm, and heat is distributed incredibly evenly.

A radiant floor system can be heated by our specifically engineered Hydro Shark® Electric Modulating Microboilers, or by solar thermal collectors (that can also accomodate a household's hot water needs if sized properly). In winter when the sun's rays are the weakest, sometimes extra heat is needed. A backup unit like our 99.9% efficient Hydro Shark® 3 can supply the extra heat needed to keep you consistently comfy even in the coldest, darkest months. The major drawback to a radiant floor heating system is that it is often expensive to retrofit into an existing home. For a home that's being built, or in a new addition, radiant floor heating makes total sense from cost, comfort, and environmental standpoints.

Types of Wall-Mounted Space Heaters

Feel free to watch the short informative video below that describes the features, benefits, and differences between our wall-mounted space heaters.

CK Premium, CK Plus, CK Trend, and CK/CKT Wall-Mounted Electric Fan Heaters

CK Premium, CK Plus, CK Trend, and CK/CKT Wall-Mounted Electric Fan Heaters feature an elegant design that uses a quiet fan to blow heat towards the floor. This effective design warms floors, and allows for even heat distribution as the heat rises. CK models are ideal for heating smaller spaces, though multiple units can be linked to a central thermostat to heat larger spaces. CK Premium has a fully interactive, backlit display featuring a full suite of user-friendly features. CK Plus features new elegant styling, and a simple temperature selector knob. The CKT features 60-minute timer-based operation in addition to the thermostatic controls also found on the CK. All CK models have a frost protection setting, which is designed to keep a room above freezing temperatures in an appropriately sized space. All CK heaters are available in 120V and 240/208V models.

CON Premium and CNS-E Wall-Mounted Convection Heaters

A single CON Premium Wall-Mounted Convection Heater or CNS-E Wall-Mounted Convection Heater is also great for heating small spaces. CON Premium and CNS-E heaters are an outstanding replacements for ugly, cumbersome electric baseboard heaters. The convection design of the CON and CNS-E means completely silent, draft-free operation. Cool air is drawn in through the bottom of the unit, and as it is heated, silently rises out of the top. To heat larger spaces, multiple CON Premium or CNS-E units may be placed around the room. Multiple units can be optionally linked to a central wall-mounted thermostat that allows all units to be controlled at the same time. Or, you can control CON or CNS-E units individually by setting each thermostat, thus allowing for a finer degree of control. CON Premium has a fully interactive, backlit display featuring a full suite of user-friendly features. CON Premium and CNS-E models have a frost protection setting, which is designed to keep a room above freezing temperatures in an appropriately sized space. CON Premium and CNS-E heaters are available in 120V and 240/208V models.

Radiant Floor Heating Options

Radiant Floor Heating System powered by Stiebel Eltron solar collectors

There are two main approaches to supplying energy to a radiant floor heating system. The first is to use renewable energy from the sun by capturing it with solar collectors. The energy the collectors gather is transferred to a heating fluid which is then circulated through flexible tubing laid underneath the floor. The entire floor surface is warmed evenly. Because the entire heating system is underneath the floor, the visual appeal of the room is maximized, as no baseboard heaters are necessary.

Since the sun's rays are weakest during the time of year when demand for heat is the greatest, a back-up heating system to supplement the solar collectors is often necessary, especially in cold climates. A Hydro Shark® Electric Modulating Microboiler is the perfect backup option, supplying just as much extra heat as needed to maintain comfort, no more.

Radiant Floor Heating

The second approach is to use a Hydro Shark®  Electric Modulating Microboiler as a stand-alone heat source. Hydro Shark® units were specifically engineered to meet the unique demands of radiant floor heating applications while performing reliably and 99.9% efficiently. A Hydro Shark® used as a stand-alone heat source needs to be more powerful than a unit that is being used as a backup to a solar radiant floor heating system, because all of the heat is being generated only by the Hydro Shark®. Whether it's a backup or the primary heat soruce, we have the Hydro Shark® model that will get the job done right for you, all with Stiebel Eltron's exceptional reliablity and product quality.
